DATING ANXIETY - and how to handle it

Ever felt a wave of nerves or worry around dating?

You’re not alone. What you’re feeling might be dating anxiety—a common experience that can make it harder to pursue romantic connections or even go on dates at all.

What is dating anxiety?

Dating anxiety is a strong sense of fear or worrying about going on dates, meeting new people, or dating in general. It can lead individuals to avoid going on dates or pursuing their romantic interests.

Where does this feeling come from?

There are various and multiple causes of dating anxiety. The most common ones include the fear of being rejected as well as rejecting others, uncertainty about the outcomes of dating as well as worrying about self-presentation, and how others see you.

How to manage feeling anxious when dating?

Meet people in your circle - Familiar environments make us feel more comfortable. Focus on people who love what you do. Meet people at your favorite spots to make dating feel more natural.

Focus on connecting not impressing - The right connection won’t make you feel like performing. Be present, enjoy the moment and let the conversation flow. Getting to know someone who aligns with you can feel amazing. Remember, you’re not for everyone, you’re for someone.

Reframe expectations & let things unfold– Not every date will lead to a relationship, and that’s okay. Reframe negative thoughts, and remind yourself that dating is a process.

Let dating feel genuine, effortless and exciting.
