The backstory

It’s 2012 and after turning 35 and ending a long-term relationship, our founder and CEO, David Vermeulen, finds himself dating again.

A firm non-believer in the 'opposites attract' cliché, David looks for a space where he can meet like-minded people who move in the same circles as him. Instead, all he finds is sketchy dating websites with faceless profiles like twinklestar29.

Frustrated, David makes a choice: to create the space himself. He calls it Inner Circle.

Skip ahead 12 years and Inner Circle is a curated community of people who connect over shared lifestyles and interests. Inner Circle is niche by design. That means it’s not for everyone, intentionally – and a thoughtful application and screening process helps grow the community the right way.

Built organically without funding, Inner Circle is a Dutch-born company that has grown into a global community of over 7 million members.
