MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: 10 QUESTIONS WITH TABITHA
If she’s not in the kitchen, Tabitha’s on the dance floor. Born in Congo and based in Utrecht, the community manager is now learning Brazilian Samba — because why not?
Name?
Tabitha Bokonga
Birthplace?
Gemena, Congo
Based in?
Sweet little Utrecht
Personal vibe?
I’m fierce and curious with a smart mouth and a clear sense of what I want. Beneath the surface, I’m very sensitive and have a deep, caring heart.
Off-duty passions?
Cooking up a feast for my loved ones and dancing salsa, bachata, and currently learning the Brazilian Samba.
Current hustle(s)?
I am a people whistler. No, I'm just joking. I am a community manager at Omroep ZWART. And spend the day by connecting, knowing people and letting my curiosity flourish.
Life hack you swear by?
Quiet time — it’s my secret to tuning out the noise and tuning into my inner voice. Your body has a lot to say, so give it some attention!
Standout cultural experience?
I always surround myself with different people. I see people and stories walking around me. As an immigrant I have seen a lot of sorrow, joy and community in refugee centres as a young child. Me and my mom lived there for 2 years when I was 2-3/4 years old. Those stories and pictures resonate with me everyday. I have seen and spoken and celebrated my birthday with any citizen of the world.
What do you bring to the community?
I’m the curious observer, diving deep into stories and skipping the small talk. I love asking questions and I am a very curious person. Love to listen and observe, observe, observe! I am That person in the back of the kitchen that found herself as the therapist at a party, again.
What drew you to Inner Circle?
I love talking. My mom would always use a Congolese saying: “you swallowed a radio”. If you let me, I will talk all-day-long. I love being around people and learning about them - hence my curiosity. Inner circle gives me the space to meet like-minded people but also find new ones. My perfect match!
