Members Lotte and Lasse talk about how a shared passion helped bring them together, their favourite spots in Amsterdam, and how they spend their time
Amsterdam couple Lotte and Lasse met through Inner Circle in 2020.
Lasse was first attracted to Lotte’s Inner Circle profile because she happened to have a racing bike in her photos, and he hoped it would mean she loved cycling as much as he did. She didn’t, at the time, but after introducing her properly to the sport, his hope turned to prediction.
As well as a rewarding hobby for each of them – a natural extension of their love of the outdoors, which has taken them on everything from long dog walks to a trip to discover the nature of Montenegro – cycling has also been important to their relationship. “It’s nice to have a shared hobby because we can do it together but we also support each other pursuing it on our own”, Lotte said, “I believe it did bring us closer together.”
Lotte and Lasse met through Inner Circle in 2020, fixing whatever glitch in the universe meant they somehow hadn’t crossed paths before, despite moving in the same circles – they come from hometowns next to each other and share mutual friends.
When Lotte, 24, met Lasse, 24, she couldn’t have known that as well as a fulfilling long term relationship, she would be finding a new passion.
On paper, Lotte and Lasse are opposites in many ways. Lotte, an extrovert who looks on the bright side. Lasse, an introvert and realist. “Our personalities bring out the best in each other,” Lasse says, and Lotte agrees. “We deal with those differences in a pretty good way I’d say.”
Beyond their bikes, the pair can be found refueling around Amsterdam. From brunch with friends to ranking the city’s best spots for cinnamon buns and coffee, to what they call ‘ ‘The Holy Trinity’ – pizza at Pizzakamer, followed by drinks at GlouGlou, and rounded off with desserts at Massimo Gelato. While Lasse will always choose a drink at PLLEK in Amsterdam Noord on a sunny day, Lotte enjoys making the most of their community in Osdorp where she’s lived for 7 years. “Nice cafes and restaurants are popping up…although I always said I’d love to live in the middle of the city, the home I have built here has grown on me.”
So what’s next? A third trip to Lowlands with friends which, Lasse says, always turns out to be one of the highlights of the year – albeit a little different from their recent trip to Sorrento visiting their friend Rebecca who is remodelling her rural farmhouse.
Beyond shared days, trips and rides, the magic of their relationship lies in one other thing “I think we are really good at taking care of each other when the other needs it” Lotte says, “thinking about the amount of times one of us has been hungover, we always make sure they have everything they need to get through!”
